Tramadol is a medication recommended for use in patients struggling from pain of moderate to severe intensity, as well as from pain originated from chronic conditions (joint aches etc.) and various surgeries. Since Tramadol works by lowering human brain's ability to distinguish pain, it simultaneously decreases its reaction. As the degree of nervous pain signal is reduced, the pain itself becomes easier.
How to Take
This drug is produced in tablets which should be administered orally. Predominantly a dose taken once every 5 hours is enough, with concurrent food intake or without it. However, the instructions on the prescription label must be always followed, and Tramadol must be taken exactly as it was directed by your HCP. One of Tramadol characteristic features is its addicting capacity, therefore, do not increase the prescribed dose, and never shorten the time interim between the doses.
Warnings and Precautions
Before you start taking this medication, it is important to notify the healthcare professional about all the medical conditions you currently have or used to have, particularly of the following: liver of kidney problems; uncontrolled seizures; addiction to any drugs or alcohol. Moreover, in patients aged over seventy-five years the dose may be lowered, whether the doctor judges it expedient. This is due to the fact that in this category of patients more side effects can be instigated by Tramadol.
In the case if you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. But if the time for the next dose intake is almost close, just continue your regular dosing schedule, without paying attention to the missed dose. Never double your usual dose in order to regain a missed one.
